Mid November

Good grief, where does the time go? I really have to wonder sometimes. I can't believe that we are only 6 weeks from Christmas. Rylee celebrated his 9th birthday yesterday. Doesn't really make me feel old, just makes me wonder how life can go so fast!

Last weekend we had a blast at the Canadian Finals Rodeo. It's the first time I had gone for more than one performance and toured through FarmFair - which I actually found somewhat disappointing. Anyhow, the rodeo was terrific and it is so authentic. The Calgary Stampede is great, but is geared towards everyone, tourists, oilfield companies, the entire city. The CFR is more geared towards the people who just want to go and watch good quality rodeo. The bucking stock was awesome.

On Saturday while we were in Edmonton, we went to West Edmonton Mall and hung out with Josh's mom, sister and brother and my mom and sister. In true Storey style, while trying to get an early supper so we could make the rodeo, we hit Tony Roma's on Bourbon Street. Got some appetizers and some drinks. Placed our order and then half the lights in the restaurant went out. Silly us, we just figured it must be the evening dining atmosphere. Then the waiter came. He informed us that someone in their staff had gone into shock and whatever the paramedics used on them caused the power outage (we assume a defibrilator or something). So, not only did the blow the power at TR's, but also that whole side of Bourbon Street. So, no ribs and chicken for us. We rushed to the food court, dumped some fast food crap down our gullets and high tailed it to the rodeo.

The hospitality in Edmonton was wonderful, we stayed with Tan & Kevin and their kids and though we didn't get to see a lot of them, we really enjoyed the time we had (well, except for maybe the two hours of life that we will never get back that we used up watching "Don't mess with the Zohan").

Anyhow, that's it for now. I better get back out to fencing, am just in getting lunch warmed up. Until next time...ps

2 months until Christmas

Well, here I sit on October 26/08 wondering where in the heck summer went and how it can possibly be that Christmas is less than 2 months away! Life up north is going well. We had a short blizzard yesterday that didn't leave much on the ground. Kids are doing well, getting geared up for Halloween and our trip to Edmonton for CFR in November. Rylee lost another tooth on Friday, they seem so tiny when they are out!

Over Thanksgiving we went to Ontario to visit our friends, Arny and Melissa and their boys, Zach and Connor. We had so much fun and it was a great testament to our friendship because we picked up exactly where we left off and it was so awesome to see them. Ontario is a beautiful place. I had been when I was 16, but Josh and the kids never had. The leaves were changing colours and the Martinson's had a number of local haunts that they toured us to. Josh couldn't believe Wasaga beach - just like being at the ocean, without the sharks :)

That's it for now, we are warily watching the skies and knowing that our time without the white stuff is drawing to a close!
